short films for contemplative practice

CinemaDivina is an emerging body of contemplative film work and a contemplative way of screening the films.

CinemaDivina films are short pieces created to help foster contemplation, reflection, and inspiration.  Each film is created through and for a prayerful process based on an ancient practice called lectio divina.  CinemaDivina translates lectio divina to a filmic paradigm.  Viewing CinemaDivina films within this contemplative screening practice may be especially beneficial, many have found it to be a process that opens hearts, engages imagination, inspires insights, and awakens the sacred in our lives.

Artist Marilyn Freeman has developed CinemaDivina over the last several years in the context of an established spiritual community, St. Placid Priory Spirituality Center, a Benedictine Monastery.  In particular, Sister Lucy Wynkoop has provided extraordinary guidance and support.   She is co-author of Lectio Divina: Contemplative Awakening and Awareness, recently published by Paulist Press.
